Suffering in September

Hello Internet! It's September, and I low-key kind of hate September. If you know me at all, you know that October is my favorite month of the entire year. My birthday is in April, but I was birthed in October. October makes me so emotional, mainly because it was the month that I met Taylor Swift. Also it is usually the month Taylor Swift releases her new albums, but Corn Harvest aka Calvin Harris ruined everything and so now I'm here, as a person, with no new music.
SPEAKING OF MUSIC....You know how Ed Sheeran said he would release new music this fall? WELL ACCORDING TO THE EARTH'S ROTATION AROUND THE SUN IT IS FALL AND WHY IS THERE STILL NO NEW MUSIC??

OKAY ONE MORE THING *heavy breathing* DID ANYONE ELSE LIKE......GO INTO LITERAL CARDIAC ARREST WHEN HARRY POSTED THOSE MAGAZINE COVERS. IT WAS LIKE 10 AM AND I LOOKED AT MY PHONE AND SAW THEM AND I WAS EMOTIONALLY UNSTABLE FOR A SOILD 12 HOURS AFTER I SAW THEM. Anyways Harry Styles, king of fashion, founding father of music, critically acclaimed actor, pioneer of my will to live is about to drop some solo music on us    and we are all going to die. Like I'm not even being dramatic (me when I am being dramatic) but I genuinely don't think that I can physically sit down and listen to an entire album with Harry Style's voice ONLY. I AM NOT PHYSICALLY STRONG ENOUGH TO PUT MY BODY THROUGH THAT KIND OF PAIN.

Me trying to be a professional blogger: screams about Harry Styles for an entire paragraph
Okay so I guess this is where we talk about fashion and such! I bought this dress from Free People. I loved this dress because I knew that I could wear it in the spring and summer seasons, but the color was toned down enough so I could also throw on a pair of tights and a cardigan and wear it in the fall and winter.

I love drop-waisted and shift dresses because I, personally, have the shortest torso in the entire world. Scientists at NASA as astounded by it. Anyways some dress shapes literally make me look like Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc. That is why I love shift & drop-waisted dresses, because they kind of make that illusion that I am not short, upset, green monster that is apart of a Disney Pixar film. Relatable right?

Just four trashcans.....wait I need a new self deprecating joke because this one is very early 2015. I will get back to you guys on this.

Anyways it is about to be fall and I am finally going to be able to fulfill my only purpose on this earth, which is to dress for fall. Also I have gotten a few messages about doing a tutorial on my messy bun with a headband look. I think this is so nice, because I think my hair literally looks like Junie B. Jones at all times.

Have a happy end of September! I was going to make a 'wake me up when September ends' joke but then I was like I don't hate myself THAT much. Also hopefully I see you guys in October? Unless Harry Styles drops solo music on us  . Then you know....you will probably never see me ever again.

Home Is Where The Wi-Fi Is

Okay so I finally took the time to take a few pictures of my dorm room! Also a side note, my dorm has awful lighting and I'm not that good with a camera....THOSE COMBINED GIVES YOU THIS MEDIOCRE BLOG POST!!!! I actually don't mind living in the dorms. I know that a lot of people hate it, but honestly you could probably put me in a field with a wi-fi connection and I would be satisfied. ALSO, I MADE MY BED JUST FOR THIS POST. DO YOU LITERAL STACKS OF HAY KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO MAKE A BED IN A LOFT? HARD. I DESERVE A GRAMMY, EMMY, TONY, OSCAR, ECT.

My favorite part of my dorm is my desk! I tried to make it look like a fashion editor's desk but I also don't have any money....so that is how I decorated my dorm!
The prints are from rifle paper co
I bought the picture frames from Target and I spray painted them. BUT YOU KNOW ME, AND I CAN'T DO ANYTHING RIGHT AND SOMETHING ALWAYS HAS TO GO WRONG. I didn't wait for them to dry all the way and so the paint is all smudged, and you know I was too lazy to fix it and so there we have it!

The hardest part of college for me is definitely making friends. DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS FOR ME, MAYA TO MAKE FRIENDS WHEN EVERYONE ON THIS PLANET HATES TAYLOR SWIFT???? I AM LITERALLY A PIONEER FOR DEALING WITH THIS. Also you have to walk a lot. I walk like 4 miles every single day. I know I'm so athletic and I qualify for the olympics and I am the founding father of the respiratory system.

And here we have my bed, the only thing in college I can rely on besides the soft serve ice cream machine in dining hall. FLASHBACK STORY: When I was a baby, my mom and grandma made me a blanket with butterflies on it and it was my favorite blanket ever. I used it for all 18 years of my life and so for graduation my grandma made me the same kind of blanket but without the butterflies. Also we have the only picture ever taken hanging above my bed.

Okay so there we have my dorm! I know it's not much and this is pretty lame, but hopefully I can start blogging again! I am doing page design for the fashion magazine at my school and I'm writing for the Style section of the newspaper! If you want me to do a post on organization or something just let me know! And I know what you're thinking, "Maya? Organized? Who?" BUT YOU GUYS DON'T EVEN KNOW!!!! I OWN A DESK ORGANIZER. I HAVE LITERALLY BECOME MARTHA STEWART MINUS THE FELONY!!!!

If someone were to step on my face, I would want them to wear these shoes

If you're like me, when someone says "wear comfortable walking shoes," you completely ignore them and wear whatever shoes your heart desires. Honestly I love not wearing comfortable walking shoes when people tell me to, it gives me something to complain about. For example, you could be taking a nice walk with a group of people you don't really know very well and instead of making awkward small talk, you can just talk about how much your feet hurt and show everyone your stylish capabilities and negative personality. When I went to Boston with my school, my teacher kept telling me to wear tennis shoes and I was like....I'm not about to throw off this #LOOK I am serving with some ugly tennis shoes. Anyways, enough about my issues, I should probably talk about these shoes.

You know like one paragraph ago when I said I was going to stop talking about myself...well I am going to talk about myself again. I was looking for some comfortable and cute shoes to wear to class next year because almost all my classes are across campus from my dorm. I found these Soludos Lace-Up Espadrilles shoes at Nordstrom. I thought they would be perfect because 1) they are my favorite color (stripes) and I love lace-up/ ankle strap shoes.

I realized that I should probably get some pics of them on my feet and I was home alone so I was a super professional blogger and just took them myself. Also I know this isn't the best picture, but I didn't shave my legs and the airbrush tool wouldn't work on photoshop. So this is what my life has come to.

ANYWAYS...The moral of this blog post is that these are some comfortable shoes that would be perfect for wearing to school or a job that requires closed toed shoes. I also, personally think these would be the perfect footwear selection to wear to the funeral of an enemy. They are subtle, but also a bold statement. Comment your favorite shoes to wear while walking around or comment about how I should probably delete my blog because we all know that is something that should be done.

BOPPIEST BOPS OF ALL BOPS

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
Here is  a pic of me as a child, probably listening to What Dreams are Made Of by Disney Channel star Hilary Clinton, my first fav bop.

Bop

Adjective

Adjective:  A song, usually a pop anthem. Makes everyone want to scream and dance the second they hear the first beat of the song.
Example: What Makes You Beautiful by British boyband One Direction is such a bop! It makes me want to dance so hard that every single strand of hair on my head is gone and in the hands of God and Harry Styles by the end of the song.

OKAY now we know what a bop is for all the non-millennials reading this. I am so passionate about the songs I dance to, mainly because of the trauma I experienced at high school dances that only played rap music. Here is the story of how I became an official ambassador of bops. Every single high school dance I went to, we had the same DJ. This DJ was the WORST DJ TO EVER LIVE.....like him and Calcium Harris (Scottish DJ and Taylor Swift's ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris) would be great friends. Anyways the point of this information is that I have suffered. High school dances are already awkward and when you don't have any quality BOPS TO DANCE TO, the dances can be more awkward. Like it got so bad, that by senior year my friends and I were playing ping-pong with the table center pieces.

I remember junior year at a winter formal, I was sitting at a table with my friends probably discussing the evolution of Harry Style's hairline. I was bored of hearing songs like "Wop" and "Turn Down for What." My pop music loving tween heart was losing all faith in the music industry, and that is when it happened. I heard the first drumbeat in Shake it Off. I knew that this was going to be MY moment to shine. I wish there was a word for the feeling you get when you hear the first beat of your favorite song, because I AM THAT WORD. After I heard the first beat all my mind, body and soul knew to do was run to the dance floor. So that is what I did. The Taylor Swift gods pulled me to the center of the dance floor pushing past all the slightly drunk and sweaty teenagers. There I was at the center of the dance floor. The student body began forming a circle around me. Part of me was thriving off the attention. But the social anxiety part of me was begging for me to exit the primacies immediately. But I did what my religious guide and mother taught me to do, and I shook IT THE HELL OFF. I wish that every moment of every school dance could be like this, mainly because I was the center of attention, but also because I was having such a good time dancing and YA KNOW SHAKING IT OFF.

The point of this is, is that rap music might be fun to listen to, and admitting you listen to Katy Perry would ruin your rep, but YOU ARE LYING!! LYING!!!!!! TO ME when you tell me that you don't GO THE HELL OFF WHEN SHAKE IT OFF COMES ON!!!!! I KNOW YOU ARE LYING. I KNOW IT AND I SEE RIGHT THROUGH YOUR STRAIGHT WHITE BOY PERSONA. Okay I still haven't gotten to the point of this post, but the point is, even though this could be perceived as a "white girl's top 40 playlist," I have navigated the internet to find the best bops of all time, and this is my BOPPIEST POPS OF ALL BOPS playlists.

Also I am probably the only one that thinks this is the greatest playlist ever created and that is okay considering that my opinion is the only one that matters. Also YES, I do think that I could be a DJ at a high school dance....okay maybe just a middle school dance.

Also if you have any bops that aren't on the list, put them in the comments!

Shopping at Poshmark

For those of you who don't know, Poshmark is a site where you can buy, sell and trade clothes. I downloaded the app to casually browse and found that there was actually some cute stuff, for a good price on there! I was hesitant to buy anything because I wasn't sure if it was safe, but Poshmark makes sure that it is a safe transaction and that you receive your order. When you buy an item, your order goes to the seller and your payment goes to Poshmark. Once you receive your order, then the payment is released from Poshmark to the seller, so it is completely safe!

I bought this Kling dress off Poshmark and I thought that it would be perfect for school in the fall. It was originally $80 and I bought it for $10 plus $5 shipping. The dress came only a few days after I purchased it. It was used, but it was in good condition when I received it.

If you have any questions about Poshmark, just leave a comment below! Also I have some items from my closet that I'm selling on Poshmark if you are interested in buying any! Hopefully this post was helpful to you and Poshmark can be an affordable outlet for you to buy the closet of your dreams!
